Anthony Genovese

Anthony “Tony” John Genovese, 81, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, October 15, 2022. Tony was born in Stamford, CT to the late Lydia Raiteri Genovese and Vito William Anthony Genovese.
He graduated from Stamford High School with the class of 1959 and attended Pace University. He was one of the youngest Captains in the National Guard. Tony was a proprietor of Lords Restaurant, Fieldstone Terrace, and owner of several wholesale food purveyors. His hard work paid off not only in terms of finance, but in his meeting and making new friends, enjoying many late nights hanging out listening to live music and eating good food.
Tony was lucky enough to meet the love of his life when she was in high school. He married Marie Panuzzo Genovese and they remained together for over 58 years. Family gatherings meant so much to Tony, whether it was a holiday or a Sunday out on the boat, he always wanted to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves. Papa Tony was always up for a trip into NYC to spend time with his grandson. His passions included spending time at the shooting range and his love of Saint Bernards, having bred and raised over 25 dogs in his lifetime.
Tony is survived by his wife Marie, his son, Anthony John Genovese Jr., his daughter Tracy Genovese Mahoney, daughter in-law Meredith Genovese, his grandchildren Tanner Mahoney, “AJ” Genovese, Nicole Genovese Pelligrino, her husband Mike Pelligrino and Great Grandson Enzo Pelligrino. Tony is also survived by his siblings William “Billy” Genovese and his wife Betty, Carolyn Genovese Harvey and her husband John Harvey, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Tony will be remembered as optimistic, fun loving and supportive. He was quick to let everyone know how special they were to him and never shied away from giving praise and encouragement. We are all so grateful to have had so many wonderful family times together! He enjoyed his life until the end and will be greatly missed.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at Sacred Heart Church, 37 Schuyler Avenue Stamford, CT on Monday, October 31st at 10:30am. The inurnment will follow mass at St. John Cemetery in Darien.
