Brian Martin
Brian Joseph Martin, a lifelong Stamford resident and beloved son, husband, father, brother and friend to many, passed away at Stamford Hospital on Sunday, August 4, 2024, following a courageous fight with cancer. Brian was born in Stamford on April 24, 1973, and was one of four sons born to Rafael and Mildred (Librandi) Martin.
Brian graduated from J.M. Wright Technical School as an Electrician and later went on to own BAM Electric. Brian was a loving father to his three sons and a supportive stepfather to his three stepchildren. He was so proud of his family and loved to regale anyone he met with tales of about them.
Brian was passionate about baseball. Growing up he played both Little League and Babe Ruth and was a star pitcher of his high school baseball team. Brian shared his love of baseball by coaching all of his sons. In addition to coaching, he also sponsored a special needs Challengers team for many years. He was an avid New York Yankees fan and loved to watch and “coach” from his seat. Brian also loved go kart racing and spent many years racing all over New England with his son Michael.
Brian enjoyed traveling, especially to both Key West and Clearwater, FL. During the summer months he could be found boating on Long Island Sound with anyone who wanted to join him.
Brian was proud of the home he and Michele shared with their family and spent much of his time meticulously taking care of his property. Brian adored his cat Ava and his dog Peanut who he called his “little buddy”. He was also a foster parent to many neglected and abused dogs and was thrilled when they would find their forever homes. His heart was huge, and he was known as a man who would do anything to help a friend in need.
Brian is survived by his beloved wife, Michele Corrow: his sons, Brian, Jr., Michael and Anthony Martin; his mother and father, Rafeal and Mildred Martin; brothers, Ralph Martin (Ernesta), Steven Martin (Beatrice) and Dan Martin (Rachel); his stepchildren, Tyler, Storm and Hunter Corrow; his nieces and nephews, Peter, Laura, Julia, Max, Olivia and Hailey; and extended family and dear friends.
A wake service will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, CT 06902. A mass of Christian burial will take place on Saturday, August 10th at 10am at St. Bridget of Ireland R.C. Church, 279 Strawberry Ave., in Stamford. A procession to Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford, CT will immediately follow mass.
