David Guinta
David Charles Guinta, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 28, 2023. David was born on August 20, 1948. He was 75.
Born and raised in Stamford, David attended Stamford Catholic High School and went on to earn his degree from Sacred Heart University. He worked at Suburban Sportsman for a number of years before moving on to commercial real estate sales and later a successful career in the molded plastics sales industry which afforded him the opportunity to travel to many places throughout the world. He retired as VP of Sales from Aptar, Inc., in 2013. An avid golfer, David enjoyed playing and working at Sterling Farms. He was a longtime member of the Glenbrook Athletic Club where he made countless friends over the years. When his boys were young, David volunteered with Stamford American Little League and Stamford Youth Basketball where he bettered the lives of the children of Stamford for many years. He rooted feverishly for the New York Mets and the New York Football Giants. He loved beaches and books but most of all he loved going to his grandchildren’s countless sporting events. Along with his wife, Sharon, his grandchildren were the light of his life.
David is survived by his loving wife Sharon Guinta of Stamford, his father Charles A. Guinta of Stamford, his sons, David G. Guinta and his wife Jennifer of Stamford, and Ben Guinta and his wife Kimberly of Stamford. David is also survived by his brothers Stephen Guinta and his wife Karen of Stuart, FL, and Tom Guinta and his wife Kim of Bluffton, SC., and sisters-in-law, Diana Van Der Ploeg and her wife Nancy Hills of Estes Park, CO and Dawn Wiedmeier of Yakima, WA, along with his cherished grandchildren Charlie, Cate, Aly, Samantha and Matthew Guinta.
David is also survived by a wonderful extended family of aunts, uncles, a nephew and many cousins.
David was predeceased by his mother Jane Larson Guinta.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 628 Main St, Stamford, CT 06901 at 1:30PM.
A brief reception will follow the service in the church hall.
