John Scepanski
John Andrew Peter Scepanski (aka Szczepanski) of Stamford, CT, went into eternal rest at the age of 90 on January 2nd, 2022. John was born on March 29, 1931 in Bayonne, NJ to Julia Zuber and Andrew Szczepanski. In addition to his parents John was predeceased by his beloved wife Genevieve, brother Edward and sisters Ann Bolster and Agnes Hoek.
John is survived by his son John and his wife Marissa Szczepanski, his daughter Andrea and her husband Tom Nawabi, grandchildren Jack, Genna and Luke Szczepanski, Russell and Gabriella Nawabi and many loving nieces and nephews.
Before moving to Stamford John resided in Yonkers, NY from 1938 to 2015 and was a lifelong parishioner of St. Casimir Church where he attended school and served as an altar boy and later a lector and choir singer. He could always be found helping out around the church, convent and school with any repairs that were needed.
After graduating from Saunders Trade School in 1949 John voluntarily enlisted in the United States Navy where he served honorably during the Korean War with the Mediterranean Fleet aboard the USS Sabine.
John was passionate about his religion, patriotism and Polish heritage. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and listening to classical and Polish folk music. His positive outlook and loving embrace will be missed by all who were fortunate to know John.
