Madeleine Terenzio
Madeleine Terenzio (Romano), 58, of Stamford, CT passed away on October 14th, 2023 after a courageous battle with Glioblastoma Multiforme. Madeleine was born on August 27th, 1965 to Dorothy Palumbo and Albino Romano Sr. in Greenwich, CT. She was the youngest of five children.
Madeleine met her soulmate Steve Terenzio at Stamford Catholic High School and they enjoyed 41 beautiful years together. The light of their love will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of their children and grandchildren.
Madeleine and Steve owned and operated the beloved Instant Replay Sports in Stamford. For the last 31 years they’ve provided uniforms for numerous youth sports leagues in their community. The shop was a hub for the town’s sports enthusiasts and a place where young people found employment and mentorship. Their commitment to the community exemplified the true essence of a small business with a big heart.
Madeleine was a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to selflessness and compassion. Her unwavering commitment to volunteer work with the Red Cross showcased her deep sense of humanity and her desire to make a positive impact on those in need. Within her church community, she was a driving force for good, organizing numerous events, including the annual Toys for Tots drive, monthly sandwich making for the New Covenant House, prayer groups, and countless other activities which brought the congregation closer together. Madeleine was awarded the St. Augustine Medal of Service in 2012 for her extraordinary service and charitable work. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and community that will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. She always said that she was happiest when around her family, and she was able to spend the last six months doing what she enjoyed most. Madeleine even realized her dream of enjoying a beautiful trip to Waikiki beach with the love of her life.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas Romano. She is survived by her devoted husband of 34 years, Steve Terenzio, her son Stephen Terenzio, daughter Stephanie Terenzio Wrocklage and her husband James, adoring grandchildren Wesley, Juliette and Malcolm, brother Albino Romano (Cheryl), sister Gina Vitrella (Joe), sister Bianca Romano, as well as many loving brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, October 19, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Cecilia’s, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 10:30am.
