Marian DeLavalle Jordan
Marian DeLavalle Jordan of Stamford passed peacefully on April 6, 2025. She had recently celebrated her 90th birthday.
Marian was born on February 26, 1935, to the late Jean and Louis DeLavalle. A lifelong and proud resident of Stamford, Connecticut, she graduated from Stamford High School in 1953, becoming the first of three generations in her family to attend the school. A determined trailblazer, Marian pursued her passion for business by completing multiple courses at Norwalk Community College before earning her degree from Merrill Business School. Encouraged by her mother to follow her dreams, Marian went on to build a remarkable 50-year career at Pitney Bowes in Stamford. Her dedication and pioneering spirit culminated in a historic achievement: she became the first woman appointed to the Pitney Bowes Legal Counsel Board—an accomplishment that broke barriers and remained a source of great pride throughout her life.
A lover of ballroom dance, in 1956 Marian had the opportunity to dance at Madison Square Garden for the Harvest Moon Ball and later went on to win first place in the Tango when she danced on Channel 4 TV program “Step This Way”.
Marian is survived by her niece and nephew, Dana Griffin of Newtown and Terry Griffin of Stamford, two great-nieces, Ashley Griffin of Stamford and Alexa Griffin (Michael Milsap) of Newtown, as well as numerous cousins and dear friends. Marian is predeceased by her loving husband, Robert Jordan, and her wonderful sister, Barbara Griffin.
Marian’s family would like to extend many thanks to Visiting Angels and Regional Hospice who lovingly helped care for her in her final days.
