Jerimiah LaMotta

Jerimiah Michael LaMotta, a lifelong resident of Stamford and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Villa of Stamford with his family by his side. Jerimiah was born on October 3, 1932 and was one of four children born to the late Charles and Angelina (Fiore) LaMotta.
Jerry was well loved by all who met him. He was a hard working man who served in the National Guard and who worked 40 years at Pitney Bowes and then 17 years at First County Bank. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan as well as a Yankee baseball fan. His love of baseball led to a 40 year stint as a coach and manager of the Stamford American Little League, however, nothing was more important than his friends and family. In the words of his granddaughter, “God is playing baseball with a legend today.”
Jerimiah is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Sandra J. LaMotta (Robinson); his children, Deborah “Debbie” Dudley and her husband Jim, Jerry “Butch” LaMotta (Debbie) and Mike LaMotta and his wife Sue; his grandchildren, Melissa Dudley (Jim), Christina Dolor, Sean Dudley (Samantha), Haley LaMotta, Zack LaMotta, Brett LaMotta, Alyssa LaMotta, Emily Perez LaMotta (John), Janelle (Russo) and Sarah (Charbonneau); five great-grandchildren, McKenna, Bryson, Kaya, Tyler and Kilieen; and several nieces, nephews and extended family.
A wake will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 on Monday, September 12th from 4PM to 8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Leo R.C. Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford, CT 06902 on Tuesday, September 13th at 10AM. Interment will be private.
