Margareta Prunotto

Margareta (Margaret) Prunotto of Stamford, CT, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, June 26, 2023. She was born on July 24, 1937, and was 85 years old at the time of her passing.
Margareta married the love of her life, Anthony Prunotto, who she met while he was stationed in Munich, Germany. They were married for 66 years. For many years Margareta worked as the receptionist at Anthony’s (John’s) Salon and at Caprice Hair Salon in New Canaan. She had such a style and grace about her; always looking like a fashion icon who stepped out of the pages of a fashion magazine.
Margareta loved to bake and every Christmas she would deliver trays of cookies, not only to family and friends but to anyone new that she met that year! People would call her each year to make sure that they were on her delivery list because the cookies and candies she made were so special and delicious. It made her so happy to give of herself and bring joy to others. She was also known, on many occasions, to provide meals for the elderly who were living alone and in need of assistance. She did this at her own cost in terms of time and money and she never sought attention or thanks…. it was just something she felt needed to be done. Margareta’s other passion was her love of animals. She rescued several animals over the years, becoming good friends with the members and volunteers at the Humane Society.
In addition to her beloved husband Anthony, Margareta is survived by her sons Anthony Prunotto and his wife Maureen and John Prunotto and his wife Diane, and her daughter Debbie Smith and husband Todd. She is also survived by her grandchildren Michael, Samantha, and Shaun (Sara).
The services for Margareta are private.
