Joseph Tomczyk,Jr.

Joseph “Rizzo” Tomczyk, Jr., 63, a lifelong Stamford resident, passed away on September 3, 2022. Joe was born in Stamford on April 20, 1959 to the late Joseph P. and Lucille Loglisci Tomczyk, Sr.
Joseph was a devoted father and grandfather. A Die-Hard Mike Tyson fan. He also enjoyed watching the Yankees and Giants with his loved ones. Joseph’s grandkids were the light of his life and will miss him dearly. Joseph is not by our side any longer, but FOREVER in our hearts.
Joe is survived by his daughter, Nichole Reyes and her husband Joe, his grandchildren Jordan, Keith and Hayley, as well as his siblings, Mary-Jo Amato and Mark Tomczyk. Joe is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews, Anthony, Tori, Jeffrey and Michael.
Besides his parents, Joe is predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law Debbie and John Pandone.

Josephine Darling

Jo Darling, a longtime resident of Stamford and beloved mother, nan, nanny, sister, and friend, passed away on Thursday Sept 1, 2022, at Stamford Hospital surrounded by her family. Jo was born in Rockland Maine on January 26,1932 to the late John and Vita Gustin (Rizzuto) and was the youngest of five children.
Jo’s journey from Maine to Stamford began with her best friend Edith in 1952. It was there they met the Darling brothers and soon became sisters-in-law. Jo and her husband Bob were owners of the Villa café where they met many strangers that turned into lifelong friends. However, her greatest accomplishment was her family. She took great pride having never missed an important event such as softball, baseball, football, and dance recitals. Jo also enjoyed going to beach, swimming, reading and donuts. Jo’s quick wit and personality will be dearly missed along with her Sunday meatballs and sauce.
Jo was predeceased by her beloved husband Robert (Bob) Darling in 2004 and is survived by her children Vita Darling of Bridgeport, Brian Darling of Stamford and Anthony (Tony) Darling and his wife Florence also of Stamford; grandchildren, Erin (Andre), Ryan, Colin (Claire), and Kellie: great grand children Jazlynn, Andre and Carter and her sister Marianna Munro of New Britain Ct. Jo is also predeceased by her sister Francis Drinkwater, Mary Vanorse, and a brother Anthony Gustin.
Visitation will be held at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT 06902 on Thursday, September 8th from 4PM to 7PM. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. John the Evangelist Church, 279 Atlantic Street, Stamford, CT 06901 on Friday, September 9th at 10AM. An inurement will immediately follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.

Diane Bull

Diane Epstein Bull, passed away August 31st from heart failure. Diane was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania and grew up in northern Philadelphia and Southampton. She studied bio-chemistry at Penn State University, then finished multiple masters at Temple University. On a blind date, she met then later married Leroy Keet Bull and went on to have one beautiful daughter. She moved to Doylestown PA for family and career teaching science, then into the battery industry, and finishing her career in the pesticide industry. She thrived in clutter and never met a horizontal surface she couldn’t fill with piles of paper.
A book could be written about the adventures of Diane. She was a lead participant in the women’s movement to pass the ERA. She also studied to be an interfaith reverend, raised butterflies, was an avid reader, Feung Shui practitioner, and world traveler. She did all of this with a mischievous glint in her eye.
She is survived by her loving spouse of 57 years Leroy and brother David Epstein. For the last seven years she has lived in Stamford CT with her daughter Sarah and family, including her loving granddaughter Samantha.
She attended so many political protests she couldn’t count them all. Recently, she attended a protest in Stamford holding a poster that read “Now you have pissed off Grandma”. While her protesting days are now over, the values she fought for endure in those she touched.

Edward Nemchek, Jr.

Edward F. Nemchek, Jr., 65, a lifelong Stamford resident, died peacefully in his home surrounded by close family early on Thursday, September 1, 2022. He was born on April 8, 1957 to the late Edward F. and Reonilda (Renee) Abbazia Nemchek, Sr.
Ward, as he was known to some, was a partner at Nemchek & Poeschl Attorneys at Law. Previously, he was a member of the Stamford Fire Department. A staple in his community, Ward was the current president of the Glenbrook Athletic Club as well as a former president and Hall of Fame inductee of the Stamford Youth Hockey Association.
Most significantly, Ward married his high school sweetheart, the late Lisa Mercado, in 1979. Together, they built a beautiful life and marriage over the course of their 44 years together.
Ward is survived by his 2 children, Sara and Daniel (Crissy); his grandchildren, Ozzy and Millie; siblings Tresa Toscano (Dan), Patrice Arena (Nick), Peter Nemchek (Margaret), Renee Byrne (Kevin), Christopher Nemchek (Sally), Joseph Nemchek, and Patricia Mullins (Patrick); and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he is predeceased by his wife, Lisa and his niece, Kelly Byrne.

Georgios Patsis

Georgios I. Patsis, 92, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Perivolia, Greece on December 17, 1929 to the late Elias and Sophia Kalavritinos Patsis.
Georgios immigrated to Stamford, CT from Greece in 1974. He worked in Stamford in various manufacturing jobs.
Georgios was a long-time parishioner of the Church of the Archangels in Stamford.
Georgios is survived by his devoted wife, Pota “Vlahakis” Patsis of Stamford, his loving children, Louis Patsis and his wife Irina, Thomas Patsis and Sophia Walmsley , all of Stamford, as well as his sister, Garyphallia Gatsihtis of Greece.
Family and friends may call at the Church of the Archangels, 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, with a funeral service following at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at Spring Grove Cemetery, Darien.

Douglas Robinson

Douglas J. Robinson, 60, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer at his home with his loving family by his side on Wednesday, August 24, 2022. Doug was born in Stamford on April 19, 1962, son of the late Charles and Dorothy Robinson.
For 33 years, Doug served as a police officer for the City of Stamford. He spent several years in the Narcotics Unit before becoming a school resource officer, and most recently working in the Special Investigations Juvenile Matters Unit. In addition to his regular duties, Doug was also a member of the Stamford Police Department’s Hostage Negotiation Team & Crisis Intervention team.
Doug coached the Stamford-Westhill high school co-op hockey team for 23 years, mentoring students in the community through his love for the sport. Above all, Doug was a loyal husband, father, and friend. He showed his family how to live their values and always made them laugh and feel protected. His presence will be sorely missed by everyone that was fortunate enough to have met him. You knew you were family if he called you “Cuz.”
Doug is survived by his devoted wife Judy Robinson of Fairfield, along with their cherished children, James, Casey, and Kevin, his brother Charles Robinson, and a wealth of brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews that Doug loved and treated as his own each day of his life.

Deborah Meno

Deborah Martha Meno, 72, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a former long-time resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, August 22, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 4, 1950 in Stamford to the late George Douglas and Betty Fox Smith.
Deborah graduated from John Jay High School in Cross River, NY in 1968 and studied nursing for some time at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, MA. She served as the executive assistant to both CEO and CFO of Olin Corporation for over 30 years before retiring and moving to North Carolina. She was an active member in Alcoholics Anonymous, proudly celebrating 16 years of sobriety, through which she served as a meetings coordinator and beloved sponsor for many.
Deborah is predeceased by her husband Robert Michael Meno, also of Stamford. She is survived by her son Sean Meno and his wife Rose of Succasunna, NJ and her daughter Kelly Meno of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as well as four grandsons Roscel Manalo, Brandon Manalo, Robert Meno, and Ronan Cuenin-Meno, and one granddaughter Kennedy Cuenin-Meno. She is also survived by her brother Douglas Smith of Georgia along with cherished extended family in the New England area, and her beloved dog of eleven years, “Cassie.” Deborah will be remembered fondly in the hearts of all who were blessed to have known her.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 27, 2022 at 10:30 AM at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Avenue, Stamford. Interment will follow at Queen of Peace Cemetery, Rockrimmon Road, Stamford. There will be no calling hours.

John Condon

John J. Condon, 90, a life-long resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, August 21, 2022 with his family by his side.

John was born on April 14, 1932 to the late James and Mildred (Murtha) Condon. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, and served as a member of the U.S. Navy before he was honorably discharged in 1953. John retired in 1994 after more than 40 years in the radiology department at Stamford Hospital. He enjoyed spending time with his family and skeet/trap shooting with his late brother, Ed.

John is survived by his loving children, Stephen Condon and his wife Donna of Stamford; Janet Piacenza and her husband Robert of Norwalk; and Lisa Drain and her husband Thomas of Norwalk. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Mark (Stephanie), Nicholas (Shannon), Christopher (Laura), Laura (Josh), Jamie (Taylor), Matthew and Ryan and five great grandchildren: Lindsay, Cole, Andie, Cameron and Ella, who will remember Grandpa John for his sense of humor and his full head of brown hair.
In addition to his parents and brother, John is predeceased by his loving wife of sixty years, Marie M. (Foster) Condon and his mother and aunt-in-law, Stella Foster and Victoria Tisano.

The family would like to recognize Monice Duncan of Norwalk who supported them in caring for John during his final years.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 29, 2022, at St. Matthew Church, 216 Scribner Avenue, Norwalk at 10:30 a.m. The entombment will immediately follow mass at St. John’s Cemetery in Norwalk.

Michael McKinzie

Michael Eugene McKinzie, 63, passed away peacefully at Yale New Haven Hospital on Sunday, September 25, 2016. He was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio on April 10, 1953 to the late Eugene and Mary Ellen O’Donnell McKinzie.
He was a graduate of Wilton High School, Class of 1971, was in the United States Air Force with honorable discharge, as well as attended Mechanic School in PA. Michael had an early passion and talent for photography, respected and enjoyed nature, was an avid hunter and fisher and believed in his second Amendment. He was a proud Boys Scout Leader for fifteen years with his son and Archery Instructor. He was employed as high security for former President Gerald Ford and President George Bush, Sr. Michael was a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather and worked diligently to provide for his family.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of over thirty eight years Anita L. Tarzia McKinzie of Hamden, a loving daughter Ashley L. Donovan and her husband Paul of Hamden, a loving son Michael Al-Dominick McKinzie and his significant other Abby L. Ecker of Hamden, a grandson Andrew Michael Donovan and sister Catherine Ann McKinzie of FL and a brother Paul John McKinzie of MO. He was devoted to making his family feel secure, cared for and loved.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 6, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Leo’s Parish, 24 Roxbury Road, Stamford. Interment will follow at St. John’s RC Cemetery, 25 Camp Avenue, Darien. There will be no calling hours.

Job Rene

Job René passed away at his residence on Monday, August 8, 2022, after a long period of suffering, surrounded by his children in Stamford, CT. He was 85 years old.

Job was born on November 15, 1936 in Lavallee de Jacmel, Haiti, where he lived for 46 years before residing in the USA in 1982. The youngest of a family of 9 children to the late Pricier René and Agnes Plaisir, Job was a hard worker and he worked in many fields to provide for his family in Haiti: Carpenter, Bus Driver, Taxi driver and even more. In October 1999, his children reunited with him in USA, it was a big accomplishment for him.
Job is survived by his 9 children: Josseline , Dieula, Bernadette, Zephirin, Jasmin, Carlo, Pauline , Isaac, Solange. Daughters and sons in law : Marie France, Nadine, Benise, Olga, Jean, Sylvio, Marckenson and Wilnick. 15 Grandchildren : Nathalie, Martine, Cathiana, Santia, Minasdine, Armstrong, Reynold, Christopher, Nadjasmine, Angeline, Abigail, Abraham, Stephen, Azariah, Eliyanah and 4 great grandchildren.
He also left behind 11 Nephews and 11 nieces.

For people who knew him, he was a great servant, driving those who needs help wherever they want, he was also a tough person and straight forward; he didn’t like hypocrisy. He loved to laugh and made others
laugh. He loved his friends and his family. Job was immensely proud of his family and left behind nothing but
beautiful memories. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and always remembered in their hearts.
