Kenneth Sullaway

Kenneth E. Sullaway, affectionately known as “Sully,” age 78, of Stamford, CT, passed away unexpectedly at his home on August 9, 2022. He was the son of the late Fredrick E., Jr. and Pauline C. Sullaway of Old Greenwich, CT.
He was a graduate of Greenwich High School, class of 1963 and he served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam war. He was employed by the City of Stamford, Board of Education for 42 years until retiring in 2021.
When he wasn’t working, Kenneth enjoyed boating, fishing, lobstering and watching NASCAR. Above all, he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and family. He will be deeply missed by his friends and family, and by all those who had the pleasure of his company.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Michele C. Sullaway (Czarnecki); his three daughters, Melissa Neilson (Chris) of Rutland, VT, Karen Pastiva (John) of Shelton, CT and Stephanie Sullaway of Stamford, CT; and his four cherished grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Jason and Ryan.
Services will be private. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date.

Pietrina Scollard

Pietrina (Née Penzavecchia) Scollard, 83, of Stamford, formerly of Brooklyn, NY, passed away on Thursday August 4, 2022 at home with her sister by her side. Pietrina was born on April 25, 1939 in South Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of the late George and Josephine Caramagna Penzavecchia.

Pietrina was an avid New York Mets and Brooklyn Dodgers fan. She loved fishing and was on a bowling league for many years. She also loved decorating her home for every holiday.

Pietrina is survived by her sister, Georgette Penzavecchia of Stamford CT, her niece Dana and her husband Ron Gierek, of Upper Saddle River, NJ and Alicia Van Cott and her husband, David of Boston, MA. She is also survived by two great nieces and nephews, Ava and Matthew and Fiona and Austin.

Besides her parents, Pietrina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Walter D. Scollard.

Vincent Pangia

Vincent M. Pangia, III, 56, of Greenwich, passed away on August 4, 2022 at Stamford Hospital. He was born in Greenwich, on February 24, 1966 to Vincent M. Pangia, II and the late Francine Mann Pangia.

A carpenter by trade, Vinny worked independently and in association with other carpenters in the Fairfield County area for many years. He loved his profession and building things from wood. Vinny also loved dirt bikes, classic cars and pick up trucks.

He played baseball for a number of years with the Byram Vets. A graduate of Greenwich High School class of 1984, Vinny loved dogs and is still remembered by family to this day walking his beloved and devoted Husky, Iggy, around the streets of Byram.

As a child, Vinny trailed along with his grandpa, Vinny the first, and the two were seldom apart. A favorite destination of the two Vinnys was the beach or his aunt’s pool, where he was the first kid in and the last kid out of the water (unless the BBQ was ready)!

Vinny was a devoted friend and mentor for many years to Peter Blechner, Jr. He was loved by Pete’s family and friends, and they all became very close over the years.

He will be remembered by all for his giving heart, his hearty, wholesome laugh and tremendous sense of humor. All who met him liked or loved him and will hold him close to their hearts.

In addition to his father, he is survived by his aunt, Gloria P. Strazza, numerous cousins and many close and loyal friends.

Lois Slocum

Lois Fraser Slocum of Stamford, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Friday, August 5, 2022. She was born on December 16, 1936 in Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada to the late Watson and Alma (Morris) Fraser. Lois was 85 years old at the time of her passing.
Lois moved to Stamford after marrying her husband in 1959 where they raised their family in Springdale. She and her late husband were the owners of the former Handyman Hardware in Springdale.
Lois is predeceased by her husband Charles Slocum, her son Ralph Slocum and her son-in-law Frank Franko. She leaves behind her children; Nancy Franko of Stamford, Lee Slocum of Scranton, PA, Cathy Vitti (Aldo) of Stamford, Cindy Slocum Apablaza (George) of Trumbull CT, Michelle Arvan (Steve) of Stamford; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Her family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to The Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County, and to all of her caregivers especially Gina Rodriquez.

Peter Robotti

Peter Joseph Robotti, a lifelong resident of Stamford, passed away peacefully at Stamford Hospital with his loving family at his side. He was born in Stamford on November 23, 1943 and was one of five children born to the late Frank and Virginia (Macarella) Robotti. He was 78 years old at the time of his passing. Peter is survived by his devoted wife of 59 years, Donna (Carriero) Robotti, his children, Gina Robotti, Deanna Robotti, Frank Robotti and his wife Molly and Cristian Robotti and his wife Michelle. Ten grandchildren, Samantha (Michael), Madison, Cristian, Cailey, Lila, Cassie, Lulu, Pearl, Bea, and Clara; two great grandchildren, Bennett Peter and Brooks; and three sisters, Marilyn Marzullo, Virginia Orgera and Nancy Cappiellieri. In addition to his parents Peter was predeceased by his brother Frank Robotti. Pete graduated from Stamford High School where he played football after attending Stamford Catholic High School, where he met his wife Donna. He went to work for his father in the family meat market where he mastered the butcher trade, specializing in making sausage. He later owned his own wholesale meat market. Peter loved his family and coaching little league. His free time was spent listening to music and spending time with his family and friends of all ages. In his later life he enjoyed painting, watching the Yankees, and listening to more music, which brought him great joy. The Band, Neil Young, Johnny Cash and Willie Nelson to name just a few. He loved his trips to the Jersey shore and his time spent on vacation in Hawaii. His greatest pleasure in life had no comparison though, it was spending time with his grandchildren and great grandkids. He delighted in calling them everyday to check in or to text them personal notes. His family came before everything else and you felt that in every decision Pete made. He will be sorely missed yet he will live on in the impact he had on the lives of all those around him. We love you Pop!

Paul Nardozza, Sr.

Paul M. Nardozza, Sr., beloved husband and father, of Stamford passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Paul was born in Stamford on December 20, 1948 to the late Daniel and Rose (Cicarelli) Nardozza.
Paul graduated from J.M. Wright Technical School in 1966. He started out in Carpentry at Homestead Lumber and switched his expertise to Acrylics and Plastics. He developed his acrylic skills with CDA in Stamford and Plastic Works in New Rochelle, NY, and later ran his own small business. He was an avid sports fan and loved horse racing, playing cards and getting together with his many friends, who will miss him dearly. He was a longtime member of the Glenbrook Athletic Club and the Piedmont Club in Darien.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Altomare Nardozza and his son, Paul Nardozza, Jr.
His family would like to thank Dr. Michael Fusco and Dr. Evelyn Cusack for their loving care.
There will be no calling hours and Interment will be private. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Maurice RC Church, 358 Glenbrook Road, Stamford.

William Komninos

William A. Komninos, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on July 22, 2022. A lifelong resident of Stamford, he was born on July 3, 1959, to the late Anthony and Aphrodite (Pliatsicas) Komninos. Bill graduated from Rippowam High School, attended UConn Storrs, and graduated from Fairfield University. He began a career in accounting and developed into an IT specialist and system administrator. He was an avid technophile from the early days onward. Bill loved listening to music, playing guitar, and performing with Simple Jim of which he was a founding member and the elder statesman among younger bandmates. He was active in the local music scene, often going to see and support fellow musicians. He relished family gatherings, the Catskill mountains, farmers markets, and artisanal foods. He was an animal lover and Mets fan. Bill was extraordinarily generous with his time and his multitude of talents. He connected with people young and old, from all walks of life, and he accepted them just as they were. He had a sharp wit and a tender heart. He was a loyal friend, loving uncle, and amazing brother. Bill is survived by his brother and sister, Art and Thalia Komninos, his nieces and nephews, Arianna, Stephen, and Henry Yaw, and Katherine and Alex Wentworth-Ping.
