Domenico Iorfino

Domenico Iorfino (97), a self-made man who touched many lives, passed away on July 28, 2023, in Stamford, CT.

Domenico was born on May 30, 1926, in Arena, Italy. He left his homeland in pursuit of the American dream, arriving in the United States in 1948. He worked diligently to build a better life for himself and his family, and that dedication became the foundation of his success.

He was predeceased by his parents, Domenico and Elisabetta Greco Iorfino, his loving wife, Marianna (Sette) Iorfino, his brother, Pasquale Iorfino, his son, Dominic F. Iorfino, and his granddaughter, Jessica Ann Fornabia.

Domenico leaves behind three daughters, Mary Elizabeth Harakal (Warren), Francesca Fornabia, and Theresa N. Iorfino; his grandchildren, Douglas M. Harakal (Kristen Hall), Christina P. Harakal (Andrew Mitchell), Yvonne C. Iorfino (Simon Myers), Gregory D. Iorfino, Maryann F. Schinella, Robert C. Fornabia, Alixzandria Tarnowsky, Joezef Tarnowsky III, and Kazzandra Tarnowsky; and great-grandchildren, Alfonso Schinella, Alexander Mitchell, Ryan Mitchell, Siena Mitchell, Kai Myers, and Nico Myers.

Domenico made significant contributions to the Fairfield County community through the numerous homes he built with precision and skill. Examples of his brickwork can still be found around Stamford at locations like Dolan Middle School and the arches on Broad Street.

He found serenity in the simple joys of life, including photography, strolls along the shores of Cove Island and Hollywood Beach, FL, and nature (ensuring all the neighborhood birds—and squirrels—were well-fed). Any visitor to his home will recall the aroma of freshly brewed espresso, one of his favorite indulgences.

Those who knew Domenico will remember him as a man of strong character and unwavering dedication to his family. His presence will be deeply missed in their lives.

Services and interment were held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to donate to any charity in Domenico’s honor.
