Georgia Tournas

Georgia T. Tournas, 96 , of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, October 14, 2022. She was born in Agios Konstantinos, Greece on April 20, 1926 to the late Ioannis and Vasiliki Louridas.
Georgia was an employee at Stelma, Inc. before retiring and was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church of Stamford. Georgia truly embodied what being a “yiayia” meant. She was an avid gardener, a chef, a baker and lover of soap operas. Her breakfasts were legendary. She loved all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren with all of her heart, and she will be truly missed.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Eleni Tournas and her husband Peter and Joann Rassias,as well as her son in law, Bobby Giangos and eight grandchildren, Dennis Rassias (Irene), Voula Varnavelias (Nick), Chris Tsihlis, Angela Frazis (Demetrios), Evangelia Tsihlis (Christos), Dimitrios Tournas, Anthony Giangos (Karina) and Theodoros Giangos and 8 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sisters, Elizabeth Dimopoulos and Eleni Arvanitis.
Besides her parents, Georgia was predeceased by her husband Theodoros E. Tournas in 2017, her daughters, Irini Giangos and Vaso Tsihlis.
Family and friends may call at the Annuniciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 10:00-11:00 AM. A funeral service will be held privately. Interment will follow at Woodland Cemetery, Woodland Place, Stamford.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Georgia’s memory to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Avenue, Stamford, CT 06905.
