Giovanni Ferraro

Giovanni Ferraro, 90 a longtime resident of Stamford passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on October 14, 2021. Giovanni was born on October 29, 1930, in Montesarchio, Italy, son of the late Pietro and Luisa DeNisi Ferraro.
Giovanni came to America in 1970 with his family where he became a machinist for many years. One of his many passions in life was gardening and being the caring and giving person he was, he always shared the fruit of his labor with loved ones. Giovanni was a devoted husband and father, but most of all, he was a devoted “nonno” as his grandchildren were the center of his life. He also enjoyed watching Italian soccer and would always welcome a good conversation in politics.
Giovanni is survived by his devoted wife of over 55 years Carmelina Ferraro of Stamford, daughter Luisa Romeo and her husband Andrew of Norwalk, son Peter Ferraro and his wife Michelle of Shelton. His sister Antonietta Izzo of Italy and his cherished grandchildren Michael Dinnan and Victoria Romeo.
Besides his parents Giovanni was predeceased by his brother Vincenzo Ferraro and sister Angela Grasso.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT, on Thursday, October 21, 2021 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM. A funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home on Friday, October 22, 2021, at 10:00AM with a Mass of Christian burial to be celebrated at Church of St. Cecilia, 1184 Newfield Ave., Stamford, at 10:30AM. Entombment will follow at Willowbrook Cemetery, Westport, CT.
