Joseph Tassitano

Joseph F. “Poppa Joe” Tassitano, 75, of Weston, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, May 4, 2023. He was born in Stamford on January 3, 1948 to the late John and Victoria Cortese Tassitano.
Joseph is survived by his devoted wife of seventeen years, Nancy Izzi-Tassitano of Weston, his loving children Justine Tassitano and Hunter Tassitano and his wife Christina, and grandchildren Jaxson and Ella Tassitano, all of Danbury, and his sister, Dolores Spoto of Stamford. Also surviving are his stepchildren Lisa Mingolello and Michael Augustine, both of Meriden. He also leaves behind his beloved family of many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Poppa Joe was devoted to his many family members and friends. He was also dedicated to the Charter Oak Motorcycle Club and his club brothers for over 55 years. He was always a hard worker, retiring from the city of Stamford as a heavy equipment operator after 35 years of employment. He loved his unique home, where you could often find him tinkering in his yard or working on a project in his barn. He loved animals, the outdoors, was a passionate collector of various things, and he was known for never passing up a flea market or antiques shop. He had a lasting impact on everyone he crossed paths with and was truly one of a kind. He was the strongest, kindest, toughest, generous, most helpful and creative man who always offered his advice and opinions. He stopped at nothing to find humor in most everything around him, which created a legacy of laughter and memories. If you met him, you would never forget him. He will be missed by all.
Family and friends may visit during calling hours at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford on Thursday, May 11, 2023 from 4:00-8:00 PM. Interment will be private.
