Josephine Battinelli

Josephine Etta Goff Saul Battinelli passed away April 25, 2023 at the age of 92. She is survived by her loving daughter Linda Battinelli-Colucci and her husband Salvatore as well as two granddaughters, Jennifer Colucci-Althoff (Ryan) of Atlanta, GA and Kimberly Colucci of Las Vegas, NV. She was also thrilled and very proud to become a great-grandmother to Franco Dominic Althoff. She was known as Granny to JoAnn Genovese-Julbes (Gus) and son, Anthony. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Gloria Battinelli and Catherine Battinelli and many nieces and nephews whom she loved, as well as her special Westy, Vito.
In addition to her parents Minnie Josephine Taylor Goff, Harry Goff and stepfather Joseph Bovino, she was predeceased by her husband Ralph A. Battinelli who died in 2006 after 56 years of marriage, as well as an infant son Ralph Jr. and an infant daughter, Catherine; sisters Dorothy Trowbridge (Ed), Frances Moriarty (Jim), infant sister Harriet and stepsister Nancy Bovino Stoni (Daniel); Also predeceased by Ursula Battinelli Rich (Alphonse), Carl Battinelli (Helen), Ann Battinelli Zaccagnino (William), Rita Battinelli Murphy (Robert), Pasquale Battinelli and Louis Battinelli.
She was born on a farm in Florence Township, NJ in 1930, where she and her mom and sisters raised vegetables that they sold to the Campbell Soup Company and flowers marketed to local florists. She moved to Stamford in 1940, attending Stamford schools. During her teen years, she volunteered as a candy striper at Stamford Hospital. And later at a dry cleaner, where she met the love of her life, Ralph Battinelli. They went to her senior prom together and never left each others side after that. She worked for Homequity-Peterson Howell and Heather in Wilton, CT, rising to the position of Manager of their Equity Computation Department, handling equity closings for properties in all 52 states. She was a member of the National Accountants Association and served on their Board of Directors. She was an active member of the American Management Association and served as guest speaker in numerous seminars across the country. While living in Stratford, CT she served on the National Historical Committee for several years. She worked for 20 years for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company as Vice President of Finance.
Family and friends may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Avenue, Stamford, on the morning of Saturday, April 29th from 9:00AM to 10:30AM with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow the visitation at 11:00AM at St. Gabriel R.C. Church, 948 Newfield Avenue, in Stamford. The interment will follow Mass at Queen of Peace Cemetery in Stamford.
