Michael LaMotta

Michael LaMotta, a lifelong resident of Stamford, CT, and a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side at Stamford Hospital on the morning of Tuesday, November 15, 2022. Mike was born in Stamford on April 1, 1965 to Sandra J. (Robinson) LaMotta and the late Jeremiah LaMotta. Mike was 57 years old at the time of his passing.
Mike was well-loved by his family and friends. He attended Stamford Schools and graduated from Porter and Chester Institute of Design. He then pursued a career as a senior mechanical design engineer and worked for Baldwin, Gyrus ACMI/Olympus and Accurate Lock and Hardware. Mike’s passion was coaching for Stamford Babe Ruth Baseball and Softball. Mike took three teams to the Connecticut State Championships and won. He was an avid Giants, Yankees, and Rangers fan. He was also a past member and officer of the Stamford Elks Lodge #899.

Mike leaves behind his devoted wife of 31 years, Susan (Battaglia) LaMotta; his children Zack and Haley LaMotta; mother, Sandra LaMotta, sister, Debbie (Jim) Dudley, brother, Butch (Debbie) LaMotta, sister-in-law’s, Toni (Ray) Cervone, Christine (Dave) Michaels, many nieces and nephews, and his two beloved dogs Addie and Archie.
Mike is preceded in death by his father, Jeremiah LaMotta, mother-in-law Stella DeMasi Battaglia, aunts and uncles Francis (Gene), Mary (Pat), Millie (Charles), as well as Terri, Rosie, and Mike.

Friends and family may call at the Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home & Crematory, 104 Myrtle Ave., Stamford, CT on Sunday, November 20th from 2:00PM to 4:00PM, with a mass of Christian burial to take place at 11:00AM on Monday, November 21st at St. Bridget of Ireland Church, 278 Strawberry Hill Ave., Stamford, CT 06902. The interment will be private.
