William Komninos

William A. Komninos, known to family and friends as Bill, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family at his side on July 22, 2022. A lifelong resident of Stamford, he was born on July 3, 1959, to the late Anthony and Aphrodite (Pliatsicas) Komninos. Bill graduated from Rippowam High School, attended UConn Storrs, and graduated from Fairfield University. He began a career in accounting and developed into an IT specialist and system administrator. He was an avid technophile from the early days onward. Bill loved listening to music, playing guitar, and performing with Simple Jim of which he was a founding member and the elder statesman among younger bandmates. He was active in the local music scene, often going to see and support fellow musicians. He relished family gatherings, the Catskill mountains, farmers markets, and artisanal foods. He was an animal lover and Mets fan. Bill was extraordinarily generous with his time and his multitude of talents. He connected with people young and old, from all walks of life, and he accepted them just as they were. He had a sharp wit and a tender heart. He was a loyal friend, loving uncle, and amazing brother. Bill is survived by his brother and sister, Art and Thalia Komninos, his nieces and nephews, Arianna, Stephen, and Henry Yaw, and Katherine and Alex Wentworth-Ping.
